With the release of this year’s most anticipated film, The Great Gatsby, I couldn’t resist dipping my toes into the fashion from the 1920′s.

The 1920′s was huge for fashion. Women started steering clear of the restricted fashions and began embracing more comfortable clothes. Hair was cut short, much shorter, known as the “bob” and the “flapper” dress made it’s debut.

Menswear also changed drastically, as it too abandoned the more regimented and formal attires. Short jackets with two or three buttons instead of jackets with the long tailcoats as well as pinstriped suits.

Art deco was also introduced and altered not only architecture design, but also it’s traits were seen in women’s fashion.

Now, I can’t decide if I am more excited to see the exquisite costumes from this film, or, to hear the amazing music composed for this film. Hard choice. World renowned designer, Miuccia Prada teamed up with costumer designer Catherine Martin to create some stunning costumes for this film. Miuccia Prada’s archived collections were revisited and slightly revamped, creating some total “jaw dropping” works of art. These dresses are comprised of iridescent metallic lamé, dyed fur, sequins, silk taffeta, and velvet.  We are talking “fancy smancy”. In addition to the dresses, elaborate hats, shoes, and accessories were also used in styling.

Hey ladies & fellows,

This post comes from a very deep and special place in my heart. I come from a family of 7 children including myself. 4 girls total. My brothers are awesome, but this post is dedicated to my lovely sisters; Kaylee, Amy and Beth Kerry.

Sisters will always have a very special bond, but I feel like my sisters and I have come so far and through so much together that it makes us extra special.

I think everyone with a sister knows how much you can get in each others hair as you grow up. “Borrowing” each others clothes, jewelry, and shoes! Then, you all start to mature and grow up. Everyone goes their direction and believe it or not, you start missing the little fights, shoes, earrings, and everything that it represented.

Recent events have really challenged me to remember how special my sisters are. I’d do anything for them, and I know they would do the same for me. It’s been amazing to watch them grow up and I’ve seen just how strong, intelligent, and loving they really are. Although I live thousands of miles away from them, there isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t talk to them, or think about them. Friends are special, but no one can replace a sister and the love you have for them.

Today I’ve decided to jump into one of my absolute favorite skin care products. Yes, it’s the basic and simple Noxzema that has been around for AGES!

Growing up, I would watch my mom get ready in the morning or before bed, and she would always smell so clean and minty. I loved it. She would let me use the Noxzema as well and the tingly sensation on the face left me giggling. Just the scent of the product reminds me of my mom. Now my mom started using the product when she was about 13, now she is in her late 50′s and her skin is gorgeous. I’m not giving all of the credit to Noxzema, but Noxzema was the only cleanser she used, so something must have worked!

Currently I use Noxzema after removing my makeup and just before bed, but it works as an awesome way to wake up the skin after those late nights where you barely got any zzzz’s.

Noxzema has obviously added new products to their line including blemish controls, but I am still stuck with the original deep cleansing cream.

*If you are prone to dry skin, I would recommend using a moisturizer after cleansing your face.
